Terry Wantz Historical Research Center
The Terry Wantz Historical Research Center opened in March 2012 in the Caruso’s building at 10 West Main Street in Fremont and moved to 30 East Main Street at the end of 2015. We service all of Newaygo County and beyond. We serve Newaygo County as well as other states and countries with their genealogy and family search questions. Wherever your family came from we will be able to help.
Our Vision
The Centers vision is to promote the responsible preservation of historical and genealogical resources. We will collect, preserve and interpret documents, photographs and artifacts of our distant and recent past, while providing public access to our collection and resources.

Center Features
Through collections and computer access we will be able to expand our resources to help patrons with their genealogy quests. We are looking to serving our county and beyond.
We will be offering years of experience to assist those who need it through classes and conferences. The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Belva Bouwsma the Regent of the Whispering PInes and Prairie Chapter of Newaygo County also is available to help those who are searching for their revolution ancestors.
We are pleased to be able to name it after a good friend and historian Terry Wantz who through his years of work has helped preserve the history of Newaygo County and loved to share his love of history with anyone willing to listen. We are sure Terry would be pleased.
