Beach at Fremont Lake Park

Take advantage of the remaining sunny summer days with a visit to the beach at Fremont Lake Park. This inland lake is the perfect spot for a swim, and features a boat launch, volleyball courts, a playground, restrooms and picnic pavilion. What more could you ask for? Well ….maybe an ice cream shop? They have that too! The kids will love playing the day away at this popular local park.

Newaygo’s Riverfront Park

You won’t want to miss Newaygo’s Riverfront Park…and we’ll show you why. In addition to having the typical amenities of a local park such as a playground, picnic tables, and a pavilion, this park has an out-and-back trail that follows along the bank of the mighty Muskegon River. You will often see kayakers paddling by, as this is a popular launch spot for anyone looking for a great paddling adventure. But the really unique feature is still to come. Following this paved trail toward the large grain silos, you’ll come upon an open grassy area where several enormous fish head sculptures pop out of the ground, as you might see in the river. The kids will love taking photos with these truly whimsical sculptures.

Step Back in Time

Located at the center of Grant’s downtown district, Water Tower Park features one of the last two historic wooden water towers left in the State of Michigan. At this designated Michigan Registry of Historic Places, the kids will love the restored, original Chessie System Caboose. While taking a step back into Grant’s railroad history, you may also want to stop for a bite to eat at The Depot Restaurant, a train themed diner serving American favorites.

Pedal the Path

Bring your bikes along and spend a day exploring the region on the Fremont Town & Country Path. This paved 5.5 miles trail skirts Downtown Fremont and connects several city parks. You’ll pass cornfields, traverse wooded areas, pass over bridges, and may even see wildlife along the way.
