River Fishing
The White River welcomes anglers to try some spring river fishing on over 89 miles of flowing waters. A popular destination year-round, The White River boasts world-class fly fishing for salmon, steelhead and trout. Spring steelhead bring anglers to the water below the Hesperia Dam where they will find a rather small and wading-friendly river system.
NCT Hike 100 Challenge
This year, set a goal to explore the North Country Trail with the NCT Hike 100 Challenge. Newaygo County is home to more than 70 miles of the NCT, making it the perfect spot to knock down those miles. Morel Hunting
Almost as elusive as Big Foot, the Morel mushroom poses a challenge for even the most experienced hunter. Morel hunters know that when the ground begins to warm and spring rains have arrived, it’s time to head to the woods. Although you aren’t likely to be pointed in the direction of a secret spot, NewayGo County is home to over 100 miles of trails through the Huron-Manistee National Forest providing plenty of hunting land for all those interested in mushrooming.
